What is a title plan?
A title plan is the scaled plan that identifies the extent of a registered property title on the HM Land Registry record.. HM Land Registry issues an official title plan, based on Ordnance Survey mapping, showing the general boundaries of the title edged in red. When you transfer part of a title, register unregistered land, or define new boundaries, you must supply your own scaled application plan that aligns with that title plan and the OS base map.
- Issued by HM Land Registry from the registered title
- Based on Ordnance Survey mapping at OS scales
- Shows the general extent of the title edged in red
- Operates under the “general boundaries rule” — not exact lines
- Application plans must align with it for transfers and registrations
